The National Speech and Debate Association has created videos lessons to help acquaint judges with the basics of speech and debate, as well as more detailed explanations of how to judge individual events. If you end up judging at the NM National Qualifier Tournament they are HIGHLY encouraged. If you judge at the Last Chance Qualifier or at Nationals they are required. Many of your questions about individual events can be answered by taking these trainings. You will need both a Tabroom.com account as well as an NSDA account in order to get credit as a judge for taking them.
Check out our resources from our 2024-2025 Judge Roundup! Feel free to email if you have any questions.
Tabroom.com is the website used to organize a tournament. Judges will create an account and use it to record their results as well as the comments they have for competitors. Tabroom.com should be used with the Chrome Browser only.

The following resources are compiled here so they can be found, but there is absolutely no requirement that judges look at all of this. They are just resources that are available for those who want them. We do highly recommend attending an online training, or watching the recordings that are sent out after each one, before judging at a tournament. The online judge trainings are at 6pm on the Tuesday before each major NM tournament. Links and more information are sent out via our weekly emails.
