Process for choosing who competes if limits must be made 

• Not enough judging to hit the required judge burden for an event. 

Decisions will be made in successive order until the tournament’s judge burden is met. NOTE: The limits here will apply no matter the tournament. Meeting the judge burden is the first priority in competing.

1. Triple entries will be dropped

2. Double entries of those who did not provide judging will be dropped

3. Double entries will be dropped

4. Single entries who did not provide judging will be dropped

5. The team will not participate in the Tournament

• State & Nat Quals Events

1. Preference will be given to students who compete in the event as their “main event”. 

2. Preference will be given to students with a higher winning record

   • At State: a higher winning record of a student in their secondary event, will not displace a student in their Main Event.

     • 1. 1. • Example: J competes in Policy as their main event, but did an OO this year as well and has made it to finals once. K competes in OO only and has never made finals. Preference will go to K. 

   • Nat Quals: a higher winning record of a student in their secondary event, may displace a student who is competing in their Main Event.

     • Example: J competes in Policy as their main event, but did an OO this year as well and has made it to finals once. K competes in OO only and has never made finals. Preference will go to J. 

• All Other Tournaments (just in case)

1. With the exception of State & Nat Quals, every student will be allowed to compete in enough tournaments to letter. If a student needs another tournament to letter, preference will be given to them.
