Officers

• Give campaign speech at the banquet. Voting occurs during the banquet. 

• Elected by current 7th -11th graders who are members in good standing and have competed in at least one tournament this season. 

• Seniors vote in the event of a tie. 

Captains & Mentors

• Appointed by coaches & current captains. 

It is the duty of the Co-Presidents to:

1. Represent LC S&D. 

2. Oversee other officers and members of leadership.

3. Assist Coaches. 

4. Make announcements and/or run practices as needed. 

5. Work with the booster club and activities director to plan, get approval for, and implement team fundraisers and sponsorships. They should schedule 5 fundraiser dinners per season; one in each of the following months: September, October, November, January, and February.

6. Plan a team dinner for after awards of each in person tournament. These dinners can coincide with/be fundraiser dinners. They secure chaperones for team dinners. 

7. Host or make arrangements for 2 team parties per season as follows: Winter Party, & Pre-State Party. They ensure the continuation of team traditions at those parties. They secure chaperones for those parties. 

8. Help maintain team traditions. 

9. Be tournament Staff for Cave Classic. 

10. Attend leadership meetings. 

11. One year term limit. 

It is the duty of the Co-Vice Presidents to:

1. Serve as vice to the Presidents and assist the Presidents with club operations.

2. Plan and implement 2 social/team bonding events per season; 1 in the first semester, 1 in the second semester. They secure chaperones for those social events. 

3. Are responsible for putting together the photo slideshow for the banquet.

4. Send tournament results to be put on the school announcements.

5. Help maintain team traditions. 

6. Be tournament Staff for Cave Classic. 

7. Attend leadership meetings. 

8. One year term limit. 

It is the duty of the Directors of Membership to:

1. Be responsible for on-boarding new members of the team. 

2. Recruit new members at Desert Ridge & La Cueva. 

3. Have good relationships with history and english teachers at both schools. 

4. Walk new members through the new member to do list. 

5. Be welcoming and willing to reach out to people they’ve never met before. 

6. Conduct introductions. 

7. Orient new members at tournaments as to norms and expectations. .

8. Work with the Activities Director and attend such events as the DRMS Activities Fair, 8th Grade Night, and the LCHS Club Fair. Be in charge of DRMS recruiting trip. 

9. Be responsible for running the team instagram account. They take photos of team events, competitions, etc and make instagram posts that promote the team and honor society. 

10. Help maintain team traditions. 

11. Be tournament Staff for Cave Classic. 

12. Attend leadership meetings. 

13. This position cannot be held by a Captain. 

It is the duty of the Captains to:

1. Be the main teachers of their event.

2. Help and instruct new members.

3. Plan lessons, run their squad during practice, run practice rounds, host office hours, provide resources & shared materials, attend tournaments, assist novice & varsity members, do case review, share experiences, and set an example for other members of the squad.

4. Not put down other squads, but rather encourage team camaraderie and team culture. 

5. Run speech drills prior to competitions and do vocal warm ups at tournaments. 

6. Help maintain team traditions. 

7. Be tournament Staff for Cave Classic. 

8. Attend leadership meetings. 

9. Returning Captains do not need to reapply for the position. 

It is the duty of Mentors to: 

1. Back up and assist their Captains. They implement lessons, assist their squad during practice, run practice rounds, attend office hours, provide resources, attend tournaments, assist novice & varsity members, do case review, share experiences, and set an example for other members of the squad. 

2. Not put down other squads, but rather encourage team camaraderie and team culture. 

3. Be tournament Staff for Cave Classic. 

4. Attend leadership meetings.
